    Doina Brestoiu

    Principal

    Doina is a passionate educator with a background in mathematics, business, and project management. She founded the LOGIMIX afterschool program to help students excel in math and chess, focusing on logical reasoning skills. As a former chess player and business consultant, she brings a wealth of experience to her teaching. Doina enjoys playing chess, solving puzzles, reading about psychology and leadership, and engaging in outdoor activities. Alongside her husband, who oversees the IT side, she collaborates with a team of experienced teachers to provide quality education in math, physics, and chemistry, preparing students for university and beyond.

    Mariana Gavriliu

    Mariana, a Chemical Engineering graduate from Romania, transitioned to teaching after a successful 25-year career in the chemical industry. She now teaches math at Pickering High School in Ontario, Canada, specializing in academic and gifted programs. Actively involved in organizing math contests and assessing engineering applications at the University of Toronto, she aims to better prepare students for higher education. Mariana’s diverse interests include photography, taiko drumming, philosophy, and jazz. She actively supports Romanian immigrants settling in Canada and has two children.

    Homa holds a Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics from the Science and Research University of Tehran, Iran, with over 17 years of teaching experience. During her tenure at the University of Isfahan, she supervised numerous graduate students and fostered collaborative relationships with undergraduates. In Canada, she pursued a Post-Doctoral Fellowship at Ryerson University and has been teaching Math courses since 2014, specializing in grades 9-12 curriculum. Diligent and patient, she is dedicated to helping others succeed. Outside of work, she enjoys traveling, exercising, watching TV, and spending time with her daughter.

    Dragos Spulber

    Teacher

    Dragos, an experienced high school teacher in Toronto, instructs Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry, organizing contests such as COMC and Euclid at his prestigious private school. With an M.Sc. from the University of Bucharest, he has excelled in teaching since 2010, previously at Michael the Brave High School in Bucharest. Since 2000, he’s taught various levels of Math, Physics, and Chemistry in both French and English, focusing on instilling appreciation and understanding of these subjects. Beyond teaching, Dragos enjoys martial arts, bridge, traveling, language learning, and connecting with diverse cultures.

With a background in Biophysics and Environmental Physics, including collaborative projects with the University of Ghent, Belgium, she brings a diverse perspective to her teaching. Monica actively participates in professional development courses and is involved in mentoring young facilitators. Outside of teaching, she volunteers at her child’s school and previously managed the Romanian Children’s Choir. Her personal interests include hiking, tennis, gardening, and reading.

She instructs students in Literacy, Math, Social Studies, Music, and Dance, actively participating in various school programs including Maker Space, fundraising campaigns, and Safe Schools Initiative. Outside of teaching, Shannon manages a 100-acre farm, raising crops and cattle while also raising her four children. She enjoys running and participates in 5Km and 10Km races annually.

Transitioning from the semiconductor industry to Information Technology, he gained expertise in C++ programming, relational databases, and web development. With Oracle Database certification, he worked as an Analyst Programmer and Network Administrator for 7 years in Romania before immigrating to Canada. Currently a Sr. Analyst Programmer in Toronto, he specializes in developing and maintaining enterprise software modules. Beyond work, Cristian enjoys astronomy, quantum physics, psychology, personal development, yoga, puzzles, and jokes, alongside spending time with family and friends.
